Two Mites
The lonely widow was seen giving two mites in the treasuryHer money for the support of the poor and LevitesAdded to the gifts and sacks of food thrown in by rich menMen who had nothing to lose by givingBut she was willing to give all that she had and hold nothing backDid she give from gratitude, and a desire to please God?Did she consider herself blessed, better off than another? Was this the widow whose dead son Jesus had raised?Or for whom he had healed her daughterYet though she is nameless and unknownWe will always consider what she didBecause Jesus saw her giving what she had -all her living
What have we to give to Him, what is all to us?Do we give our reasoning, our philosophies, our doctrinesOur friends, our church and traditionsOur spouses, our children, our relations,All those things we love and hold dear to our heartsOur jobs, our riches, our effort, time, and resourcesOur fame, our notoriety, our emotions, passion, and prideThe things which seem spiritual, that give us a sense of worthThe things, the gadgets, the hobby, entertainment, and the funThe things that clutter our lives, that eat up our timeOur homes, our properties, our lands, city, and countryCommitting to Him the things which seem all to us
The meager 70 years of life’s battle ground is nothing when compared to eternityYet we put so much time and energy into it -and we mustFor one depends on the other, how we use our talents determines our destinyA love knows no bounds that doesn't hold anything backA love that finds a hidden treasure in a field, the pearl of great price,That will sell everything, leave nothing out, to buy the inheritanceNot out of sense of duty, loyalty, necessity, or compelling,But with the passion of Christ, who endured the cross and the shameWho gave His own life and blood, for the joy of the prizeFor the elected people, sinners, those who hated him without causeTo redeem Him a special people, a bride without spot or wrinkleA proof that He is Love, the God of two mites

And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: for all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.Mar 4:6 And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me. For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always. She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying. Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.Act 5:1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, and kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet. But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things. And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him. And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in. And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much. Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out. Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.Phi 3:4 Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, and be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; if by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.Luk 14:26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
