The New Work
God called out the children of Israel, the sons of faith-filled Abraham,He had heard their cry from the oppression, the agony of their soulsThe whippings of their taskmasters and the torment of their captorsHe sent to them a man who had seen the burning bush, and stood on holy groundWith wondrous works he called them out of denominational EgyptThe miracles that seemed to make their burden heavier and turned their hearts awayThey cried with the increased labour and the beatings with the rod of traditionTo which they said "Has He put a sword in their hand to slay us"But with mighty works He called them, drew them almost against their willHe drew them with the cords of a man and the bands of loveHe led them into the wilderness to prove them, and to show His graceHe had done a new work - not ever seen before - calling them out of bondage
They rejoiced, they danced, they sang, "the horse and rider are cast into the sea"They were free to serve God in the wilderness and they were glad. But then the emptiness of their stomachs reminded them, the memory of the fleshpots of EgyptThey complained, "Were there no graves in Egypt? Did you bring us out to kill us with hunger"?God gave them Manna to eat, a miracle on the ground every morningBefore the sun came up it was there and tasted like fresh new oil, like wafers made with honeyBut they thought of the denominational fish, the cucumbers, the melons, leeks, onions and garlic And said "this manna we loathe it, give us flesh to eat" and He did,It rained quails for a whole month, but they paid for their desires and death became their meatGod had given them the desires of their heart a miracle of meat on the windIt had never been this way ever before where God provided food from heaven.
God wanted to be their personal God, where He himself would wipe away the tears from their eyesWhere he would be a Father to them and they would be His sons and daughters. He came down on the mountain hidden in thick cloud, with thunders and lighteningsWith fire, smoke, earthquake and The Voice of a Trumpet sounded long and increasingly loudThen Moses spake and God himself replied, a voice, which all could hear, burned in their earsHe spoke the Ten Commandments, things he himself had considered and purposed for themYet they were a stiff-necked people, they refused the voice of GodThey begged Moses to be in God's stead saying, "You speak to us, don’t let God speak to us,You go and hear all that the Lord our God says, then tell us, and we will hear and do it."And so Moses did, his face shone with the glory of the Lord, they had to cover his head with a veil,A symbol of the veiling of His word to them, the veil to the Holy of HoliesIt had never been this way before that God himself had spoken directly to the called out.
They journeyed to the borders of Canaan; it was time to move inThey sent twelve men to go and see the abundance, to report back on their inheritanceFor forty days they searched the land, the land that flowed with milk and honeyThey cut down a bunch of grapes, too large for one man to handleThey brought figs and pomegranates, wonders of the bounty of the landThey told the people of the greatness of the country, and showed them its fruitBut ten of the men said, "There are giants, we were as small as grasshoppers, they are mighty,Their cities are walled up to heaven, they are stronger than us, how can we go in?"Two said they are our bread, if God be for us who can stand against us?Let us go up and possess it, for there are more for us than be against usBut they refused to be broken on that rock and their bodies fell in the wildernessThey remembered not that a small weak people had overcome the mighty.
After forty more years they returned again, the unbelieving and faithless were no longer thereThey ate the old parched corn of the land, unleavened bread, the food of the spoils of war,The miracle of manna, they had gathered for most of their lives, stopped,But their journey was not yet completed, those leasing Abraham's land had to be evictedIt was theirs to possess, the land of promise, the land of their fathers, the land of IsraelThe priests stepped into the flooded river, a path of dry land appeared, bidding them walk acrossThe Holy Spirit holding back the waters, the Spirit and the bride saying COMEThe saints marching, dressed in spotless white, marching to the sound of the gospel,They are strong in the lord - in the power of his might, conquerors, nothing can stand before themWalking in the Holy Ghost around the walls of Jericho blowing the trumpet as reveal by the LordRelying on Him for their every breath and movement, surrendered completely to His voiceGod working His new work, a Father son relationship, the rest for the people of God.
