The Rose
A rose is a roseAlthough it starts out as a green budCovered tightly with a calyxProtecting it from the wind and rainInside a wonder is forming,Building pressure -growingUntil the strain becomes too much and the calyx breaksShowing a streak of colourDividing in five sepalsIts work is done the flower has changedBut it is still a roseThe Petals unfurl brilliant colourPeeling off making room for the othersLayer after layer such beauty such graceConstantly changing but still a roseA gift of love, and passionThe prize of weddings,The remembrance of loved ones pastFragrance and form unequaledSo desired, so wondrous, so amazingYet as it fully unfolds it exposes realityAn untidy mess in the centreFilaments and anthers all dropping pollenVisited by bees and fliesWho drink the perfumed nectarAnd by accident rub pollen onto the stigmaThen the petals fade and wiltWhat was beauty - now is tinged with deathThe life seems to drain from the perfectionAll seems hopeless, the fragrance has goneBees no longer visitTo gift these flowers would be an insultPetals fall with the wind one by oneFloating to the ground,Turning brown and rigidBut it is still a roseYet while death is turning beauty into compostAfter the last petal has fallenThere appears a new creationA swelling appears below the dead sepalsThat turns from green to brilliant orangeFull of vitamins and goodnessA remedy for a variety of ailmentsThe rose hip formsCradling and nurturing in its heart the next generationAnd although the outer skin will fade and rot awayExposing the seeds withinThe new life will still be a rose.

So much religion bases its philosophies on an unchangeable God,and it is true God never changes. However our perception of his unchangeableness is not necessarily his perception of unchangeableness. In fact we have the audacity to think the way things have always been actioned are the way it will always be. If the calyx of the flower didn't give way to the petals inside, the flower will die. If the petals stayed in a tight cluster there would be no pollination, If the petals remained on the flower after pollination they would absorb nutrients required for the seed. If the hip didn't rot the seed would not germinate. The thing that didn't change is the fact that the plant purpose is to reproduce, every thing else changed. Yet we will hang onto the more glamorous parts and are not prepared to let God have his way, and in so doing fight against God.
Mal 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.God's purpose had to be completed that is why the sons of Jacob were and are not consumed. For I am the LORD, I change not - However most of the old testament laws and traditions have disappeared, Yet like the calyx of the flower the remnants and still attached to the rose hip

For I am the LORD, I change not- Yet Christ ushered in a new wayFor I am the LORD, I change not- Yet the batten seems to have been passed from reformer to reformer with all their different ways of doing things,Governments and ideologies have changed, fashions and clothes have changed, the types of food we eat have changed, even the air we breathe has changed. Every thing changes -yet we are uncomfortable with change, we prefer the 'status quo' and will hold on to things as long as we can.Even...Mat 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away,[and all that is in it] but my words shall not pass away.Isa 55:8 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor your ways My ways, says Jehovah. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain comes down, and the snow from the heavens, and does not return there, but waters the earth, and makes it bring out and bud, and give seed to the sower and bread to the eater; so shall My Word be, which goes out of My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall certainly do what I sent it to do.The bible is a sign post pointing a direction. When we go in the direction of the signpost -the ground we tread on is new ground, but we are still going in the direction the signpost pointed. You might say you are leaving the signpost behind, that is true but you are still following it's direction, it's purpose.Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.
