Searching for Him
I looked for my BelovedI sought for Him in the churchesI asked have you seen Him?They replied, "He was here -This edifice was raised to His name"But He wasn't there
I ask those who were spiritual"Have you seen my Friend"?One said, "He is over here"Another - "over there"And someone else- "up there"But he wasn't there
I turned and glimpsed Him in the distanceIt was Him for whom my soul longs forI ran towards HimBut it was not HeIt was only a brother I knewHe was not there
Out of the corner of my eye I saw HimHe had just turned the corner"Master wait for me" I criedI ran to the cornerBut it was not Him, I was mistakenIt was only a Samaritan pouring oil and wine
I heard a familiar voice behind meGiving a word of adviceI turned but He was not thereJust a rustling in the treesI called out, but there was no answerJust the wind moving the leaves
In the dawn I thought I saw a ray of HimI cried out "Is that you"?But there was no answerIn the stillness of the daybreakIt was only the bright morning starHe was not there
I saw a reflection in a mirrorJust a little darkly, not very distinctIt is Him I am sureI saw Him; He was with me all the timeI believed and He was there! My Betrothed, my Bridegroom, my Lord

References:1Co 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. Son 5:6 I opened to my beloved; but my beloved had withdrawn himself, and was gone: my soul failed when he spake: I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer. The watchmen that went about the city found me, they smote me, they wounded me; the keepers of the walls took away my veil from me.Son 3:1 By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not. I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not. The watchmen that go about the city found me: to whom I said, Saw ye him whom my soul loveth? It was but a little that I passed from them, but I found him whom my soul loveth: I held him, and would not let him go, until I had brought him into my mother's house, and into the chamber of her that conceived me.Isa 30:21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.Rom 10:6 But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.Jam 1:23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: for he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.2Co 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
