Nicolaitan Spirit
The Nicolaitan spirit saysLet us build a tower unto heavenAn edifice unto my own nameLet me be a king to the peopleAnd control their every thoughtLet me be the center of their livesThe pivot of their considerationsI will be to them the way to heaven
I will take their money and their timeI will live in luxury in the name of blessingNo one will be able to lift a fingerUnless I know of itNo one will have their own revelationUnless I approve of itNo one will be able to use their giftUnless I reap the benefit of it
If a person starts to get out of lineAnd starts to reason with the truthI will say to the congregation"That brother is going through at the moment, poor brotherIf he is one of us God will show him the wayPerhaps he is under a lot of strain, lately, and is tiredPerhaps he needs to put something rightPerhaps he is getting too involved in the world"
Those that disagree with my methodsI will cast them out with twisted reasoningThose remaining will be told to avoid themIf they return and grovel at my feetAnd acknowledge they were at faultI will let back but on observationSo those others will fearAnd know I have complete control
I am drunk with my own importanceI will beat them with the rod of chastisementI will say the Lord will not return until they are readyThat is why he is delaying his comingThere must be an Achan in the campThat is why we are not going forwardThen everyone will point the finger at each otherAnd everyone will tell of the others fault
No one will ever quite reach the markI will give them the lesson of the stature of a perfect manLike a carrot dangling in front of a donkeyThey walk in circles and will never reach itThey will always be subjectThey will always need meThey will always do my biddingThey will always be under my control
I will conquer the laity with the laws of traditionTheir lives will be grounded in the pastI will subdue all other spiritual gifts under mineI will be the only one worthy of double honourMy dazzling personality will bewilder their sense of judgmentThey will consider me the true power of GodNo one will come to the God but by meI will be in place of Christ, and darkness will again cover face of the deep.
